I have never had my fusing crack like this before. I have not had my refractory stick to the glass like this before.
|
The glass used was 1 standard thickness of Spectrum 96 Clear, 1 standard thickness of Spectrum 96
Cobalt Blue and Fish and Star Fish Created from Rio Spirit 96.
This was 20-1/2" in Diameter. Fused two times to have the fish and starfish inside and out. That portion
resulted in a perfect fuse.
The Slump:
The ramp up on the slump was 250 to 1000 and hold for 15 minutes then ramp up at 1200 degrees per
hour to the max temp on the slump was 1250 held for 25 minutes then AFAP to 980 and held for 60
minutes then 100 degree ramp to 700 degrees. Hold at 700 for 30 minutes.
The 980 anneal information was obtained from Patty Gray. She recommends that anneal temp for larger
and thicker vessels.
I have used this recipe several times without any problems on the same exact thickness and size. We have
been making a lot of bowls without any problems.
I can send you the bowl for in person inspection.
What can you tell me to help me out with this problem? My customer was physically sick when she saw her
bowl today. I told her that I would be getting in touch with you and we will see what can be done so that she
can have a nice bowl.

Here are some pictures of the other Fused Bowl for your review:
Both of my clients are wanting their glass replaced so that they can make the bowls again
without the chemical stuck to them.
